McCall's 7093 on Repeat

McCall's 7093 is a pattern that I have made previously but has been parked for a couple of years.  I do wear the original top quite regularly but I am not sure what has held me back from making another.  I do however seem to have a shortage of plain summer tops that I can wear with skirts for work.  This sort of project tends to get shoved behind the cake projects.  McCall's 7093 is however my favourite of all of the basic top patterns that I have made to date.  My previous version was in a single colour and made with the pocket.  This time however I wanted to experiment with colour blocking.

The fabrics I chose are both from Cotura Fashions and from their summer sales but actually bought several years apart.  My out of control stash has some very long residing pieces that really need revisiting and the black fabric was one of them.  I bought this so long ago I really don't know what the composition is but it is some sort of rayon.  I had the same fabric in a reddish colour and the shirt I made from it ended up with a sad iron demise so I will have to be careful with this top.  The striped fabric is a crepe and I love the stripes.  I wish now I had bought more!

This was a quick make and will probably get a lot of use next summer and hopefully this autumn as a layering piece if the weather picks up again.  It seems this week we have gone from summer to late autumn in a matter of days.
