End of January Wrap Up

Just looking at these photos, I really want to be on holiday again! January's blogging efforts were in fact December makes.  I still have January to photograph.  Not that there has been much sewing this month.  Between adjusting to a new working year, moving my daughter out of home and into her first flat and redecorating and  re allocating the rooms in our own home, I haven't had a very productive month on the sewing front.  In the process of moving into my very first dedicated sewing room, I have discovered that I have way too much fabric and rather than make it up into more clothes that I really do not need, I will be spending some time culling my stash in other ways.  Whether this means my family will be the recipients of some new clothes or I find other ways to reduce the growing mountain of fabric, it really must go.  So from here on in, I am on a stash diet.

  1. Trying to do the same thing... my classroom has reached it's absolute limit and is starting to look like the really crowded City Mission store in town. Not good. Sell on TradeMe maybe? I hope C loves flatting - is she far away from you? We've re-allocated rooms too - Sophie went to Auckland yesterday and James is heading to Dunedin next week. Suddenly we have a 6 bedroom house - and one child left!! Time to downsize which means more stash will have to go. 2016 is already a year of massive change isn't it?

    1. Courteney has moved closer to Uni so not far at all really. It is certainly quiet around here with two missing, although technically 4 actually because Joel and his father are at school camp at the moment. As much as I will miss them, it will be nice to have a less frenetic household this year.

I hope your two enjoy Uni and you manage to not miss them too much. I am so pleased I don't have mine in a different city and with Callum planning on CU next year, hopefully they will all be around for a while yet.

  2. Good luck - major changes for you. My middle daughter is moving to the opposite end of Australia and we have a Japanese exchange student for 3 months. I know Feb is going to be a bad sewing month for me but that equals more sewing dreams especially on that 29 hour + drive ahead of us. Hoping to check out new op shops but like you I am trying to be on a stash diet . I think this year might be the buying patterns instead of fabric year.

    1. Oh my goodness, 29 hours. I am pretty sure if I drove that far from here I would end up in Australia! Pattern buying sounds like a good plan although I must admit to being a bit ruthless with my patterns as well!

  4. So far behind in my blog reading - love the white top and I'm feeling that I've spent far too little time on the beach this summer.
