Ponte Lindy Petal Skirt

Lindy Petal Skirt from Itch to Stitch is a firm favourite of mine for knit skirts.   Best of all it is a free pattern.  My latest version is number 6 and there will certainly be more.  I am not usually fond of elastic waists but what I like about this skirt is the shaped side seam at waist level and the neat waistband that actually looks pretty good with a top tucked in.  The comfort factor certainly helps as well!

While I was on holiday over the New Year break, I happened to be in a cafe having breakfast right when all the local offices were out and about looking for their mid morning flat white fix.  As is quite normal for me, I began people watching which actually sounds a little disturbing but in reality is all about checking out street style.  A women in a white pull on blouse and knit skirt with tan sandals caught my eye and I immediately made a mental note to add such an outfit to my own work wardrobe.  My previous post was all about the top that was part of this plan.

A little on line fabric shopping was in order to pull off my plan and I was quickly rewarded with some lovely summer weight ponti knit from Back Street Bargains.  Because the fabric is a lighter weight than I would normally use for this skirt, I opted to cut it a size larger to avoid any lumps and bumps cling factor.

As I predicted, this skirt has become a really useful addition to my summer wardrobe and will be super easy to incorporate into my autumn wardrobe now that we seem to be firmly entrenched in autumn, although the cyclone that is bearing down on the country for the second time in two weeks would indicate otherwise!
