Burdastyle 02/2016 105

The first thing I do when I pick up a Burdastyle magazine is to stick post it notes to any of the pages that appeal to me.  Because in New Zealand each issue arrives several months after the issue date, I follow this up with a Google search of the issue to see what others have made.  Often it is not a lot, but some issues do surprise me.

I had actually passed over 02/2016 105 because neither the photograph or line drawing appealed to me but it was one of those styles that stuck in my memory just the same.

When The Compulsive Seamstress made her versions up I was intrigued enough to dig the pattern out.

I have a rather large remnant collection and figured that this stile may work well at dealing with this ever increasing issue.

I drew the pattern up to size 38, grading out to 40 in the hips and dug through my scrap stash.  I found this rather lovely rayon and co-ordinating mystery crepe with enough weight to hold the style.

I have to say this style is really quick to make up and I rather like the resulting top.  It is a little boxier than I would normally wear, but I do like the interesting design lines and options for colour blocking.

Would I make this top again?  Yes, I think I would if I found just the right pieces of left over fabric.

  1. It passed me by too, but I really like your version. This is why I keep all the old Burdas!

    1. Oh dear, my collection of Burdas may well become a problem but they are certainly worth keeping.

  2. I think this top looks good on you. Very satisfying to use up remnants too!
