Something Old, Something New....

Apart from having a lot of new fabric in my stash, at the moment I seem to be a little overwhelmed with scraps.  These scraps are too big to throw out but too small to make complete garments.  I have saved quite a few to make underwear but there is a limit to how many of these I need as well and it seems I collect scraps far quicker than I can ever make and wear underwear.

I dreamed up this scrap tee shirt over the winter months and had the fabrics stored together to make a top.  The planned top was from another pattern but somewhere along the way it accidentally became Jalie 3352.  As it happens it is a happy accident because I really like the resulting tee shirt.

This was really quick to make up since all of the construction is on the overlocker and it was hemmed with the coverstitch.  I have made so many of these tops now I could probably make them in my sleep.

Since the weather is now too warm for merino's I have packed them away in favour of cotton tees and this one will fit in to my wardrobe just nicely, thank you!

Today is my birthday and what better day to wear something new.  I may be stuck at home with an eye infection, hence the dark sunnies but at least I can cheer myself up with something new.  As it happens two somethings new, because on the weekend I bought myself a birthday gift of new sneakers.  New shoe days are always good days!

  1. Love the tee and what a great use of knit scraps. I should make time and follow suite. Those sneakers are super cute! Happy birthday! Hope it's been fabulous, except for the eye infection.

  6. Happy birthday. One positive of having an eye infection is getting to stay home on your special day. Great T shirt , I love using scraps creatively as well. Very trendy shoes - pewter goes with everything. I bought my first pair of shoes for the year today- a pair of short brown boots almost the same as my worn out ones !
